4 Signs that Your Kitchen Needs an Upgrade
We are willing to bet that you spend more time in your kitchen than in any other room in your home. After all, you spend time in there preparing meals every day, and then cleaning up after each meal. Plus, you need to figure out what you need from the store, bring it all in after you buy it and put it away, and we often find ourselves just hanging out in the kitchen for a variety of other reasons.
That is a lot of time in one room, but that means that you have probably noticed that a few things are not quite up to par in this often-used space. How many times did you lose or misplace something? How often do you feel that your kitchen is entirely too cluttered?
Here are 4 signs that your kitchen needs an upgrade:
Outdated Appliances: How old are your appliances? Do you need to push the buttons in a certain order, then cross your fingers, and hope for the best every time you turn on your oven? If you need to do that or your appliances have been around for more than a couple of decades, then it is safe to say that new appliances need to be on your list of necessary purchases. Newer appliances will cost less to run, and they look nicer too.
Damage: It would be wonderful if our kitchens could stay looking brand-new forever, but that is never going to happen. While a little wear and tear is normal, excessive damage needs to be addressed sooner than later. Any water damage will need to be fixed, because mold can grow and spread. Countertops that are chipped and peeling need to be replaced, so that bacteria does not build up.
Cluttered Counters: Cluttered counters can mean one of two things. You either need more counter space or you need more cabinet space. If you cannot add any more counter space without doing a major re-haul of the layout of your kitchen, you may be able to add an island in the middle. If the need is cabinet space, you may find that the island resolves that issue as well.
You Can’t Find Anything: Disorganization often means that it is time to upgrade certain areas of your kitchen. You may want to begin with a new design that changes where things are located in your kitchen. This may help you locate things easier.
